DOTSOFT SA: Innovative System for Dynamic Demand Forecasting in Logistics and E-Commerce Businesses

New horizons in supply chain management and significant opportunities for business partnerships are emerging through a new, innovative system being developed by DOTSOFT SA, in collaboration with the National Centre for Research & Technology Development (CERTH).

Using machine learning algorithms and operations management analysis, this system—named “Development”—provides dynamic forecasts for retail product demand across specific market categories, as well as quantitative assessments of the added value of these forecasts. Its goal is to enable more efficient inventory management and improve order delivery times. Based on the provided insights, users can make informed decisions that meet market requirements.

Thanks to advanced real-time data collection and analysis tools, the system enables users to process large volumes of information, such as historical sales data, blog and social media activity, product reviews, and information on weather conditions or current promotions. As a result, forecast error is reduced by 25%, and demand satisfaction reaches 95%, leading to lower inventory costs and faster customer service. For example, the platform can help businesses reduce excessive stock orders while ensuring that goods remain available at the right time for customers.

The project’s innovation lies, among other things, in the fact that it offers a significant competitive advantage to IT companies that provide solutions to logistics and e-commerce businesses. The entire system is offered as a SaaS (Software as a Service), allowing companies of any size—from small to large—to use it, fully covering the range of potential clients.

The commercial exploitation of this new system opens important opportunities for new players, such as companies that provide big-data analytics or use machine learning algorithms, as well as software development firms, enabling them to enter the traditional supply chain management environment and become highly competitive.

At the same time, new jobs are expected to emerge in the fields of data analysis and supply chain management, while businesses adopting the system will be able to better organise their operational processes, achieving savings in raw materials, more efficient use of transportation resources, and more productive handling of goods.

For the commercial exploitation of the product, DOTSOFT SA has already received expressions of interest from YOU, Aerial.net, and Teleglobal, as well as from the Thessaloniki Dentists’ Cooperative.

The Development project, with code KMR6-0078774, is co-funded by the “Innovation Investment Plans” action under the Operational Programme of the Region of Central Macedonia 2021-2027 and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

With the system’s full deployment, DOTSOFT SA strengthens its position as a leader in innovation, promoting the digital transformation of the supply chain and e-commerce sectors.
